M. Ruzina graduated with honors from the Geological Prospecting Department of the Dnepropetrovsk Mining Institute in specialty Geological Survey, Prospecting and Exploration of Mineral Deposits in 1985.

From 1985 to 1994 she worked as a geologist and petrograph in the Novomoskovsk exploration expedition of State Enterprise "Yuzhukrgeology". She took a direct part in the search for a complex of mineral raw materials such as gold, iron, rare metals in the territory of the Middle Pridneprovie and Priazovie megablocks of the Ukrainian shield.

Since 1994 to date she works at the Dnipro Uninersity of Technology.In 1997 she finished the postgraduate course at the department of general and structural geology in specialty «Geology of metal and non metallic deposits».

In 2000 she defended Ph.D. thesis for the degree of Candidate of Geological Sciences (Ph.D Geol.). In 2008 she defended doctorate thesis for the degree of Doctor of Geological Sciences (Dr. Sci. (Geol.) on the topic “Regularities of distribution and ore-bearing polychromic metasomatites formations of Middle Pridneprovie megablock in Ukrainian Shield”.

Since 2009 she still works at the Department of Geology and Mineral Prospecting. For the period from 2010 to 2018 she prepared 6 candidates of geological sciences (Ph.D Geol.).

Repeatedly she was the supervisor of the winners and prize-winners of the Ukrainian student research contest (2010, 2016), prize-winners and winners of the Ukrainian student Olympiads in geology (2008, 2009) and the winner of the NAS of Ukraine contest among young scientists (2012). She was awarded diplomas of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine as the supervisor of the winner of the Ukrainian contest of student research papers on natural, technical and human sciences (2009,2010) in the direction "Geological Sciences" and for fruitful work with gifted students. M. Ruzina awarded with the medal of L.V. Pisarzhevsky, medal of A.M.Dynnik and the anniversary medal of the State Geological Survey of Ukraine.

The main areas of scientific activity are metallogeny of precious metals deposits , diamond minerageny, petrological studies of metasomatic formations, fluid-explosive formations.

Since 2008 she is a member of the Interdepartmental Petrographic Committee of the State Geological Survey of Ukraine, member of the Council of the UkrainianMineralogical Society. She has more than 100 scientific works, including 5 monographs (4 co-authored), 6 guidelines that are used in the educational process, 1 textbook - "Ore microscopy with the basics of technological mineragraphy", 80 articles and abstracts of scientific conferences, co-author of 17 geological exploration and research reports.
